Role: CAD Design Engineer - Solar PV Systems
We are seeking a skilled CAD Design Engineer to join EM-ONE. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining detailed designs and layouts for solar PV, BESS, and tailored mini grid and off grid projects, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, site constraints, and industry standards. This role involves close collaboration with the engineering team, site survey teams, and project management to deliver accurate, high-quality drawings and models that support the successful execution of solar energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing Drafting
Create detailed designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Generate preliminary, and IFC set of drawings for projects based on inputs from engineering, execution and operations team.
Develop equipment General Arrangements (GA) based on available site space.
Develop string connection details based on PV DC Single Line Diagrams.
Design DC, AC, and communication cable routes in accordance with equipment G.A. and Single Line Diagrams.
Prepare cable management and trenching layouts drawings.
Develop distribution network layouts and component details based on site surveys and network diagrams.
Specialized System Design
Prepare lightning protection system layouts using vendor simulations and specifications.
Design earthing system layouts in compliance with vendor analysis and specifications.
3D Modelling & Visualization
Create and render 3D models for management presentations using SketchUp and V-Ray.
Develop 3D models for shadow analysis.
Create 3D models for PVSyst simulations.
Documentation & Quality Control
Prepare and review rough sketches with the engineering team before finalization.
Ensure all designs comply with industry regulations, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Update and maintain project drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
Upload and manage drawings using web-based storage platforms for team sharing.
Develop, edit, and maintain standard detail libraries for use in projects.
Produce accurate as-built drawings upon project completion.
Collaboration & Additional Duties
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into project execution.
Perform any other related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD design, preferably in the solar or renewable energy sector.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and other CAD software.
Strong skills in SketchUp and V-Ray for 3D modelling and rendering.
Familiarity with PVSyst and shadow analysis tools.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, single line diagrams, and site survey data.
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
